Eric Litvin is the Co-Founder and President of Luma Optics, a Sebastopol, California-based company that has emerged as a North American leader in AI-driven optical interconnect for GPU clusters and hyperscale data center infrastructure. He co-founded the company in 2004 and has led it through more than two decades of evolution — from a focused optical transceiver business into a critical supplier inside the modern AI infrastructure stack.
Before Luma Optics, Eric Litvin built his career across enterprise software and database technology. He held positions at Powersoft, then Sybase, before joining Oracle as an Industry Director, where he was responsible for vertical-market enterprise software strategy. From Oracle he moved to Selectica, and in 2004 he co-founded Luma Optics with the conviction that reliable, high-performance optical connectivity would become the binding constraint on next-generation compute.
Twenty years later, that thesis has become the defining bottleneck of the AI era. Under Eric Litvin's leadership, Luma Optics has shipped over 500,000 transceiver units worldwide, achieved a field failure rate under 0.01%, and launched 800G optical transceivers tuned specifically for NVIDIA GB200 deployments — the GPU fabric powering the leading-edge AI training clusters. The company reached $130M in revenue in 2024 and is on track for $200M+ in 2025, was named to the Inc. 5000 (#47) for 2025, and operates a patent-pending robotics platform that calibrates and validates thousands of optical transceivers daily.
Eric Litvin holds a BA from Dickinson College (1991) and has been a member of NANOG (the North American Network Operators' Group) since 2012. He lives and works in Sebastopol, California — building AI hardware out of Sonoma County's Wine Country, an unconventional address for a company at the center of hyperscale GPU networking.
